Causes include acute factors (accidents, slips or falls) or chronic factors (pulling on the lead, repetitive work or compensation for another injury) or a combination of the two.
Treatment involves a detailed case history and static and dynamic conformation analysis. The spine and pelvis are then palpated for any misalignments* in the vertebrae, and treated accordingly.
Aftercare advice and an exercise plan will be tailored to the individual dog, in order to gain the most from the treatment.
*A misalignment describes a joint which has become fixed within its normal range of movement, potentially resulting in reduced range of movement within the joint, as well as muscle tightness, spasms and impingement, stretch, or compression of the nerves contained within the spinal cord. A misalignment can therefore cause the animal pain or discomfort, as well as affecting the function of the nervous system.
